The Little Princess is a film that we gained alot of inspiration from during our development process. For example in this short Gif. the way that dancing initiates a relationship, a strong bond between the two characters helped us to create a bond between Annabelle and Alice that the father was excluded from. We also liked the use of dissolves used in this clip as it felt like time was passing and they still danced. This was something that we wanted to echo. The passing of time while Alice and Annabelle dance.

Here is another short Gif. from the Little Princess. Here, by using match -on-action during editing, the film-maker is able to let us view the character from more than one angle as the girl spins. We wanted to able to do this in the first scene of our thriller as it would be able to give the viewer a chance to see the large room from all sides. The large room is imperative in dictating the loneliness of the child as well as her social status so this type of editing was perfect for us to gain inspiration from. As well as this, the way that the girl has her arms in the air is a detail that allows the viewer to experience her joy and energy. This was something that we were also keen to illustrate in our film.

Here is a short Gif. from the shower scene in Psycho. This scene was a massive springboard for inspiration for us as we wanted to create the same sense of shock/fear that is fueled into this scene, in our own scene in the bathroom. Here , in Gif., the actress is over fettishized by her 'enjoying' her shower as well as cradling her neck which fuses as foreboding tension into the piece. We therefore aimed to fuel this into our own film, by having Alice wash herself in a way that allows the camera to form the male-gaze. Meaning that upon her attack, those who found the scene reminiscent of eroticism would feel an overwhelming sense of guilt, much like they do in this scene in Psycho.

Here is a short clip from Pans Labrynth which inspired us heavily in our outlook for cinematography for this film. In this clip, canted angles are used to make the creature look bigger and the girl smaller. This was something that we wanted to use during the opening scene, making the father look bigger in comparison to Annabelle. Therefore we in putted into our scene. As well as this, there are shots in this films, wide shots from above that make the objects around the girl seem tall, looming and dominating, overtly adding to her sense of vulnerability and furthermore the audiences fear for her character. This heavily impressed us and we endeavoured to use it to make our young girl seem smaller, to add to the audiences fear for her life.

And finally this is a short clip from the film Disturbia. In which we noticed Propp's Narrative roles clearly coming into play . The way that the girl sits, whilst the heroic man looks out the window and the antagonist attacks from the side. We were influenced by this when writing our plot line as, though typical, we found the vulnerability of the girl really added to the tension and fear built up in the scene. Long shots are used in this scene that leave the viewer expecting something and create a sense of congealing fear for the characters life and we wanted to use and develop this idea in our own work.
